FACC is expanding its cooperation with India-based Kineco Aerospace through a second work package covering composite components for Airbus, strengthening the companies’ aerospace manufacturing partnership in India.
The new package is expected to involve several thousand composite parts annually, with serial production scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. Before production starts, the manufacturing program must complete a qualification milestone with Airbus.
The agreement builds on the long-term supply chain partnership FACC and Kineco established at the 2025 Paris Air Show.
Second Airbus Composite Work Package Moves to India
The latest agreement extends the manufacturing scope already established between the two companies.
Under the new work package, Kineco Aerospace will manufacture composite components in India for FACC’s Airbus-related supply activities. While specific component types and program details have not been disclosed, the planned production volume reaches several thousand parts per year.
For FACC, the expansion is part of a longer-term approach to developing aerospace manufacturing capacity in India rather than treating the country solely as a sourcing location.
Andreas Furthmayr, EVP Aerostructures at FACC, said the company intends to develop industrial capabilities with long-term partners as India’s aerospace ecosystem expands.
The strategy reflects a wider change taking place across the country’s aerospace supply chain.
India’s Aerospace Composite Supply Chain Is Expanding
India is becoming increasingly important to international aircraft manufacturers and Tier suppliers, particularly as aerospace companies expand regional manufacturing and sourcing networks.
Composite manufacturing is part of this development.
Indian companies including Kineco Aerospace, Tata Advanced Systems, Hindustan Aeronautics and other suppliers are building capabilities for carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and other composite aircraft structures.
At the same time, major aircraft manufacturers are increasing their sourcing activities in the country.
Airbus has been working toward increasing its annual sourcing of components and services from India, while several aircraft manufacturing programs are also establishing a deeper industrial presence in the country.
One prominent example is the Airbus-Tata C-295 final assembly program in Gujarat, which represents a significant expansion of aircraft manufacturing capability within India’s domestic aerospace industry.
Boeing Is Also Expanding Composite Manufacturing in India
The trend extends beyond Airbus.
Boeing has developed a large Indian supplier network and has expanded cooperation with Tata Advanced Systems for composite aerostructures.
Tata Advanced Systems produces composite assemblies associated with aircraft including the 737 MAX, 777X and 787, while its Nagpur operation has manufactured composite floor beams for the 787.
Tata Boeing Aerospace has also developed manufacturing capabilities for aircraft and helicopter structures, including 737-family vertical fin structures and AH-64 Apache fuselages.
Together, these programs show that India’s role is gradually moving beyond conventional component sourcing toward more sophisticated aerospace manufacturing.
FACC Builds Long-Term Manufacturing Capacity With Kineco
For FACC and Kineco Aerospace, the second Airbus work package represents another step in that transition.
The immediate objective is to complete the required qualification process and prepare the Indian production operation for serial manufacturing by the end of 2027.
More broadly, the agreement demonstrates how established European aerospace suppliers are developing partnerships with Indian manufacturers as aircraft production requirements and global supply chains evolve.
