Joby Aviation Establishes North Texas Base for eVTOL Operations

Joby Aviation is expanding its U.S. footprint with a new facility in North Texas, establishing a base from which the company plans to demonstrate electric air mobility services across the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

The eVTOL developer has signed a lease for 45,000 square feet at Alliance Air Trade Center in Haslet, part of Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

Located within the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development, the facility represents Joby’s first significant presence in North Texas and adds an eVTOL manufacturer to the region’s expanding advanced air mobility ecosystem.

Building a Base for Dallas-Fort Worth eVTOL Flights

The new facility is intended to provide Joby with an operational base for demonstrating how electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft could be integrated into transportation networks across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and elsewhere in Texas.

Greg Bowles, Joby Aviation’s chief policy officer, said the site will give the company a base for demonstrating the value of air mobility services across the region.

Joby also plans to begin flights under the eIPP program, working alongside regional and state organizations including the Texas Department of Transportation and North Central Texas Council of Governments.

Perot Field Provides an Existing Aviation Ecosystem

Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport is an industrial airport developed specifically around cargo and corporate aviation.

Its location within AllianceTexas gives Joby access to an established aviation and logistics environment rather than requiring the company to develop an operating location independently.

The airport is also a central part of the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone, a public-private initiative bringing together technology companies, policymakers and infrastructure organizations working on emerging air and surface mobility technologies.

That ecosystem provides a setting where eVTOL operations can be considered alongside existing aviation infrastructure and broader transportation networks.

North Texas Strengthens Its AAM Position

Joby’s arrival represents another step in North Texas’ development as a potential center for advanced air mobility.

For Joby, however, the immediate significance is operational. The 45,000-square-foot facility gives the company a physical base from which it can support planned flight activity and demonstrate its aircraft within one of the largest metropolitan regions in the United States.

The expansion also illustrates how the emerging eVTOL industry is moving beyond aircraft development toward the infrastructure, operating locations and regional partnerships required for future commercial deployment.
