Automated Fiber Placement Solution
The JT-SLT-250S slitter rewinder is dedicated to AFP production. It converts wide prepreg rolls into precise narrow tapes of 3.175 mm, 6.35 mm, or 12.7 mm, then rewinds them onto spoolers ready for fiber placement. With accurate slitting, stable tension control, and clean winding, it guarantees consistent tape quality for aerospace-grade AFP applications.

The technology use for the slitter rewinder machine

Automatic Splicing Table
The integrated splicing table allows operators to join incoming prepreg rolls quickly and accurately, minimizing downtime during material changeovers. With precision alignment guides and a flat working surface, the table ensures seamless tape joints that maintain consistent width and tension through the slitting process. This feature is essential for long, uninterrupted production runs, supporting higher efficiency and reducing material waste in AFP/ATL prepreg tape preparation.
Water cooling differential friction shaft
To support continuous, high-speed production, our machine adopts a water-cooled differential friction shaft. This design maintains stable winding tension across multiple bobbins while preventing heat build-up caused by long-duration friction. The integrated cooling system circulates water through the shaft, dissipating excess heat and ensuring consistent torque, smooth winding, and extended component life. By controlling both temperature and friction, the system guarantees precise tape winding for 24-hour operation, reducing downtime and safeguarding material quality in demanding AFP/ATL prepreg production.

CCD Camera
Our prepreg slitting machines are equipped with a CCD camera system to ensure accurate alignment and cutting quality. The camera continuously monitors tape edges and slit lines in real time, allowing operators to detect deviations, surface defects, or fiber misalignment immediately. With image recognition and feedback control, the system helps maintain stable tape width, clean edges, and consistent quality across every bobbin or cassette. This not only improves production efficiency but also reduces material waste, making it an essential feature for AFP/ATL prepreg tape preparation in aerospace and automotive applications.

Comprehensive Methods for High-Performance Prepregs

Impregnation
Impregnation is at the heart of prepreg manufacturing, where continuous fibers are infused with resin to create reinforced tapes or sheets. Consistent resin distribution is vital to achieve strength, stability, and durability in the final composite. Our solutions are designed for seamless integration, delivering prepregs that meet the demanding performance standards of aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, and beyond.

Pre-slitting
Pre-slitting is the first stage in prepreg processing, where wide rolls are cut down into narrower strips with high accuracy. By stabilizing tape widths at this step, manufacturers can achieve smoother handling, reduced material stress, and greater efficiency in the later AFP and ATL conversion stages. This foundation ensures consistent quality in automated placement applications.

Traverse spooling
Once the tapes are slit, traverse spooling takes over to rewind them onto bobbins or cassettes with carefully controlled tension. This process is critical to avoid wrinkles, overlaps, or uneven winding, which can disrupt automated fiber placement. A well-executed spooling stage guarantees reliable, defect-free tape supply for high-value aerospace and automotive production.
