Thermoplastic Prepreg Machine

The thermoplastic prepreg machine is developed based on long-term production experience in continuous fiber impregnation and calendering processes. The line is engineered to handle glass fiber and other high-performance reinforcements with stable resin distribution, controlled consolidation pressure, and consistent thickness control.
Each section of the machine—from fiber spreading and melt impregnation to calendering and precision winding—is configured based on real production behavior rather than laboratory assumptions. The design emphasizes process stability, thermal consistency, and mechanical durability, making it suitable for sustained operation in aerospace, automotive, and advanced composite manufacturing.
Designed for manufacturers who require reliable output, predictable quality, and clear process control, this system supports scalable thermoplastic prepreg production with minimal trial and adjustment during commissioning.

Unwinder creel

The fiberglass creel is configured in a double-sided arrangement with a total capacity of 192 spindles. Each spindle operates within a tension range of 300–1200 g. The yarn package uses a paper tube with an inner diameter of 160 mm, a maximum outer diameter of 300 mm, and a maximum package weight of 25 kg. The yarn payout stroke is 300 mm. The spindles are fixed by nylon sleeves, and tension is controlled by a friction belt system. The creel frame is spray-coated, finished in white, and equipped with casters for easy positioning.

Impregnation die

The flow-spreading and impregnation die adopts a bottom-feed material entry design with an effective internal width of 700 mm. The maximum operating temperature of the die is 350 °C. The flow die and the M-type die head are manufactured from imported P20 tool steel with a chrome-plated surface, hardened to HRC 58–62. The S-type flow channel is mirror-polished, achieving a surface roughness of Ra 0.025–0.075 µm. The M-type die head uses a V-shaped upper and lower lip structure. A dual-safety pneumatic system allows controlled opening of the upper die, which can stop at any angle during lifting. Final angle adjustment requires manual unlocking and valve control. The long S-type internal spreading structure enables the upper die to open beyond 45°, facilitating cleaning and maintenance.

Calendering system

The calendering pressure system consists of two pairs of calendering rolls with a diameter of 395 mm and an effective length of 900 mm. The rolls feature internal spiral flow channels with internal water temperature control and are mounted on a hydraulic pressing platform. The first roll pair is manufactured from chrome-plated alloy steel with a hardness of HRC 55–60, while the second roll pair is manufactured from chrome-plated 45# steel with a hardness of HRC 55–58. The chrome layer thickness is 0.08–0.12 mm. Each calendering roll is independently driven by a 3 kW variable-frequency motor with INVT frequency converters. The machine frame is fabricated from welded square tubing and precision-machined, with 40 mm solid steel side plates and forged bearing housings. The vertical movement of the upper calendering roll is hydraulically driven, with the lower roll fixed. Roll stroke and pressing force are hydraulically controlled. Safety devices include dial indicators, limit switches, and emergency stop buttons. Four 1.5-inch rotary joints are used for fluid connections.

Winding system

The winding unit is a single-arm rewinder equipped with an AUTONICS length counter and an electrostatic eliminator. The maximum rewind diameter is 600 mm, with a maximum roll weight of 300 kg per station. The operating speed ranges from 1 to 12 m/min. The rewinding shaft is a 6-inch pneumatic expanding shaft, driven by a 4.4 kW servo motor with variable-frequency control, ensuring stable winding tension and precise roll formation.
