China Tests Wood-Bamboo Composite for Offshore Floating Solar Platform
Updated on September 01, 2026 • 6 min read Researchers from Beijing Forestry University and Yantai CIMC Raffles Ocean Technology Group have commissioned a 100-kW offshore floating photovoltaic platform built with fiber-reinforced wood-bamboo composite structures, testing whether bio-based composite materials could provide an alternative to conventional steel and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in marine energy infrastructure.
